Fully agree here, I bought my X6800 for £430 brand new & sold it for £410, I'm just glad I didnt fork out £680ish for it - those really high end chips lose value like a car. E6600 is more than good value for overclocking to 3.4ghz to 3.6ghz.Jay_t said:Not really no, the second hand value tells the tale. The extreme edition will be worth 400 - 450 second hand and the E6600 about 180. If you must have an extreme edition chip, wait for the 4 core kentsfield edition that is coming out next week. The 6800 extreme will then be obselete.
XtAsY said:hmmmm.. well quad core will benefit me cos I will be using the chip for rendering images inside of Maya (thats a 3d content creation package).. the more cores the faster the render time I guess. Will it be that much more expensive than the x6800 do u recon?
XtAsY said:Think I may actually go for one of these processors as I think it will really benefit my render times quite considerably. Might try and get one cheaper off ebay though after a few weeks having been released. £680 is steep for me at the moment, specially since just forked out for a 8800 GTX, not much left in the bank
