don't be so hasty to be honest, yes conroe is set to destroy a lot of competition but there will always be bugs with new hardware. play it cool and calm as there are a lot of rumours and speculation flying around at the minute

Not so sure, with a lauch due very soon I should imagine that the chips are slowy building up in warehouses ready for shipping :) Haven't seen a *bad* conroe benchmark yet :)

Any ideas where these warehouses are & if they are well guarded or not? :p

I don't plan to upgrade for another twelve months yet at the latest, but it looks to me like Intel is about to become gaming performance king and I'll probably end up buying a Conroe.

Time for madonion or whatever to release a 3Dmark06 or something :) i think they usually bring one out when machines start to hit the 10k mark

Speedstep, silly.

Actual clock is ~4Ghz

EDIT: 3.6Ghz. Why do ESs all have a 9x multi?

err no  the actual clock is 2.66GHz, it has been downclocked.

For what reason I don't know as speedstep would speed the chip up to full speed when its doing something, like benching ;)

agreed i couldn't figure out why he has downclocked the chip either! and although everything is looking really gravy at the minute with the conroe's and i too will definately be looking in this route what you don't hear about is all the trouble that they must be having with the chip getting it setup. Don't get me wrong here guys i'm not by any stretch saying these are bad chips they are simply outstanding but i'm just saying don't disregard the compatability issues that will be out there.

Click the link and read it properly. And even check the system details in 3dmark.
The speed of the conroe is 3.6Ghz.

It is a default 2.66Ghz chip overclocked to 3.6Ghz.
