conroe rig not starting..

Well, thats me fresh out of ideas.

Like i say, hop onto the mobo forum and give them a description (maybe a link to this thread)...

Hopefully they will have more ideas.

Have you made any progress over the weekend ?

Just an odd thought you say you've received a new bios chip for it. I take it you've replaced the one on the mobo with the chip they sent you. I would suspect there is something amiss there and the chip they sent you is a dud. Once you get the asus board going its an absolute stunner, its quite possibly the best mobo i've ever owned.

I'd try putting the original bios chip back in and see if you get any life out of that (in terms of trying to boot with nothing plugged in etc) the board will only beep if you have a speaker plugged into it (no onboard speaker that a lot of old boards had)
The only downside with this board really is the lack of non boot diagnostics, my old epox had a pair of 8 way's to tell me what was wrong and msi's have the dled's

Im getting exactly the same symptoms.

Intel D975XBX, 2x1gb OCZ Gold DDR2, Conroe 6300 and XFX 7950GX2. Everything powers up, no display signal, no beeps. Removed everything but one stick of Ram, cpu etc, no beeps. This sucks :(

One other weird thing is that i have a fan with an LED in it. If i leave this plugged in, 30 seconds after i turn the PC on it starts to flicker, like it doesnt have enough juice.
The PSU is the 500W Liberty. I have the 20pin plug and the additional 4pin plug along with the 4 pin molex and 8pin CPU power plug.

Anyone know if im missing anything? The Box shows that the motherboard is a 304 revision, which should boot conroe!!

no, i havnt made any progress. iv tried resetting the cmos by removing batter and changing pins and leaving it like that over night. seemed to work for otheres but not me.

iv also tried both bioses. the original bios actully gets me further though.
i have 2 HDDs plugged in to the EZ raid . with the new one they sent me those HDDs dont move, but with the original one they do

And i know how you feel Rich. sorry i cant help and all i can say it good luck

Well. Just took all my kit out of the case and onto an anti static bag to ensure no shorts were present. Still wont start.
If i take all the memory out i get the 3 "no memory" beeps as expected. I have checked and reseated the CPU 4 or 5 times now.
I just hooked up my Antec PSU to check that it wasnt the Enermax that had died.....same again.

It gives no indication of any problem other than you dont get the "im working" beep at post and you dont get a display :( Given that i have done 200 miles in the last couple days going backwards and forwards with parts im getting quickly very frustrated.

Tell a lie, i also get the 3 "no memory" beeps when i have one slot populated of the dual channel slots, which again is expected :(

try to hear what the asus speech reporter is saying (plug in your headphones/speakers into the green plug on the onboard sndcard)
, if its not saying anything then i dont know, usually asus mobo's speech reporter tells u whats wrong why it wont boot up.
EDIT: if it doesnt say anything then its probably a broken mobo,
Check if the clearcmos jumper = ok, happened to me once a mobo didnt boot up cos there wasnt any jumper there...
Hope this helps

Tracked my issues down to what looks like a faulty motherboard/PCI-E slot.

Ran some tests with a mate.

My 7950GX2 in his machine = Boots
PCI Vid card in my Machine = boots
His 7800GTX in my motherboards first PCI-E slot = nothing
His 7800GTX in my motherboards second PCI-E slot = boots
My 7950GX2 in any of my PCI-E slots = nothing.

When i say it booted, it got to the "insert system disk" bit after the raid setup, but it will not display anything with a card in the primary PCI-E slot.

I will be taking the board back tommorow.
