Hi guys,

My current system (P4 3Ghz with 6800GT) is getting a little outdated now, so i'm looking to buy a new rig.

Below is what i've come up with so far... i don't want to spend more than £1k at the most. I've already got a monitor so i don't need that either.

A couple questions i have are:

1. Is pc2-5300 ram ok or do i need pc2-6400? I'm hoping to overclock.
2. Is the lian-li case the best out there? I'd like something with good cooling but not too large.
3. What's the general consensus about current conroe motherboards. I've heard mixed reports about all of them so far. So is the DFI one ok? Any better ones on the horizon?

Looks good.

The conroe 6600 will have a big performance gain because it has the same amount of cache as the high level.

The seagate 320 hard drive would be my hard drive of choice but also more expensive.

Nice case

Not sure on the PSU as they are new and i haven't seen any comments on them. A Seasonic PSU would be my choice but again it is more expensive.

I agree with that GhostRider is saying here

It's kinda similar to what i'm looking to get. Im going for the G.skill PC2-6400 NR at £135 cause it'll allow me to get the E6400 to 3GHz.

Haven't put in a motherboard cause there's not a big enough selection yet. I like the look of the MSI 965P Platinum (not on OCuK yet).

The Modstream is regarded quite highly so there won't be a problem there. Speaking as an owner of 1 too, though I bought mine yonks ago. :p
