I use Google now all the time, sports updates, currency updates, travel time, website updates it is really good. I did worry about the privacy element a bit but soon got over that.

Can you use Google Now with a different launcher?

I use Nova Prime and was wanting to try it out again

Yes. Swipe up from the home button to take you straight to it. Works for me.

Yes - just go into settings and set up "Ok Google" hotword

On a Note 4 here..hard key home button....

Jusat downloaded the launcher and tried to add an action to Nova to launch it when I swiped up. Didn't work as was wanting to to go to settings and change the default launcher.

edit...sorted it. Added it to launch just the Google app on swip up and all there now.....wassock I am
