Considering 21:9 screen for gaming..better than Nvidia surround?

OP here again. :)

How do the VA panels, like the 34" Sammy, LG, Dell etc do for text and sharpness?
Main use for the big 34" (between two 16:10 24"s) would be for 3D work and CAD and some Adobe Suite, the panel split vertically effectively giving two monitors.
The gaming side is secondary..60/40 work/gaming.

Would I be able to run the 34" at its native resolution, given the two outer panels woudl be 1920x1200?
GPU is a NV GTX970

Cheers!

Only the Sammy is VA. LG and Dell are IPS. VA is known to be bad for text as described in the thread.

Have a look at the Philips BDM3470UP. Quality control is meant to be first rate on these.

How is their support if something goes wrong? Where'd you hear that info on this model?

True, Dell's CS is second to none and I really want to go back to them for my next monitor, so tempted to just put back up my dell u2311h atm.

TBH, I wouldn't budge from that dell monitor, still very good and I feel that we will see a lot of new/better monitors coming out before the end of the year.

He did post in the lg 34" thread on here but I cba looking through his posts :p so here is his neowin review thread:

At the bottom of his first post.

Ah, fair. I'd wondered if you meant it had happened recently. I remember him getting it exchanged.

Rroff isn't that down to the current batch being fairly small in comparison to say 3x24" 16:9 monitors and not having access to over 60Hz or decent response times ?

34"+ with those things would be fine IMHO, just need to wait.

I'd think you'd need around 40" 21:9 to really replace a more conventional 3 panel setup anything less would be a bit underwhelming for driving games.

I don't see why - losing the bezels is a huge bonus, the only difference is the immersion and that's not something I could honestly say without trying it.

Likewise how noticeable the pixel size is could be a negative impact on the larger screen, which I wouldn't be able to see without trying it out.

I love my 21:9 3440x1440 monitor.. I dont feel the need for more real estate than that and the only game that ive tried that hasnt worked properly with it has been the failure COD: Advanced Warfare(havent tried since release so dont know if they have patched the issue since). Can highly recommend it as its hassle free, atleast it has been for me.
