Considering a ford escort

ok so im looking to buy my first car. Am seriously considering an escort, as i can get reasonable ones for roughly 250-300, and my insurance for them is being quoted at roughly £700.

Now every smaller car i look at costs more, and the insurance is almost double that generally. Do you think its a good buy?

If it has a years MOT and tax and is in a resonable condition then why not. Get a years NCB with it and get shot of it.

my mates gf recently got a 1.6 escort for £280, need a few bits totaling less than £100 and it went through the MOT, came with 6 months tax as well

See if you can insure a Mondeo for similar money - it's only marginally bigger than an Escort, fetches similar prices and is infinitely superior.
