Hi all,

I've recently started gaming a bit more but also working from home most days. Also got a 4k TV and would love to screen mirror to it and chill on the sofa with a gaming pad sometimes.

Looking to upgrade where possible and cost-efficiently, but unsure what's the best direction. Ideally an initial budget of maybe £500-600 would be OK. If my gfx card isn't up to scratch, I can upgrade that in time too (perhaps once the 3000 series is all released and other prices drop, with another budget of £400 in a few months). 4k gaming would be great but no idea if my budget would stretch to this. New baby and looking to buy a house soon.

Game I mostly play are Sniper Elite 4, Deep Rock Galactic, L4D2, Vermintide 2. Would love to play some of the newer releases

Current rig is;
- i5 3570k (LGA 1155)
- Gigabyte z77x-d3h
- GTX 1060
- 8GB DDR3 RipJaws X G.Skill RAM
- Corsair TX 750M semi-modular PSU
- Antec 900
- OCZ Agility 3 SSD 90GB (full)
- Seagate Barracuda HDD 500GB (full)

I think my current CPU is my main bottleneck. I'm guessing my best bet is to upgrade CPU, MoBo and RAM to a Ryzen gen 3 (7 3700X maybe?), and continue using current case and PSU? My SSD is only 90GB so all games have to be put on my HDD. Might need to upgrade this too. I also need a new copy of Windows as I'm on 7 still which doesn't support screen mirroring :(

What can I achieve on this sort of budget, if not doing the above?

Cheers all :)

Get a ssd a 1tb drive can be had for £85 or 500gb if you think that's enough.

Newer release games your going to struggle especially at 4k.

16gb ram is the ideal amount .

Not sure if you can still get a free upgrade to windows 10 but keys can be had for £10

Zen 3 announcement on the 8th so it mite be wise up wait.

Cheers for advice. Managed to get a Ryzen 7 3600X, MSI X570 Carbon MoBo and 32gb Viper 3600mhz RAM from member's market for a fair price. And got Win10 Pro updated and activated free of charge.

Will upgrade GPU in the coming weeks.

Cheers again.
