But which one should i go for?

PS3 or Xbox360

I plan on using it as a media box as well to stream mp3s/vids from my PC.

I'm wondering what owners views are on them :)

Please if you do reply post a valid reason for the choice.

Cheers

360 tbh, loads of games, great online service etc

wii if u want those kiddy but fun games ;) and like to swing stuff

Love my PS3, and Loved my 360.

Both are fantastic and both have pros\cons.

Look at the current games line-up\future releases and see which exclusives appeal to you.

Cons - PS3 lacks games at the moment, has some dodgy 360 ports and is a little more expensive, 360 has a bad failure rate with between 2 to 6 week wait for a replacement no built in wifi or hd-dvd\blu-ray and is louder.

Go to the shop, try both, look at the games they have, make your mind up :)

Yep. Or you could read all the threads with all the talk of wonderfull Ps3 games and save yourself some time.

If your buying now there really is no contest. 1-2 years from now might be different.

All you really need to know is the type of games you like to play and whats due out.

It's obvious really, the 360 by a country mile.

I've been planning on getting a PS3 for Christmas for a long time but recently i've been thinking that shock horror a Playstation console actually might bomb! I really hope it doesn't as if only for the competition factor but the way things are at the moment it makes you wonder.

i also personally having used both the ps3 and 360 find the 360 better as a media center when using it along with a PC for streaming xvids and the like

why dont you buy a hdmi dvd/divx/mp3 player for £60?

some have usb sockets too

I think he wants to play games on it as well :p

yes

i'd rather have a stadalone player. quieter/cheaper/uses less electricity

it just sucks that ps3/360 dont support divx

Samsung DVD-HD870 - Multi-region capable DVD Player With HDMI and Upscaling to 1080i

Multiregion
Plays divx
hdmi
Plays mp3
quiet
reliable
around £50

then buy the console that offers the game you want to play
ps3 has lovely big hd which would be great for storing divx movies, if only it supported the format

I can't understant people saying "Wait 12 months for the PS3", who's to say the PS3 will be the better console in 12 months? 2 games (Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid) do not a good console make.

Quiet, nice looking, all bells and whistles console, not much games = PS3
Noisy, loadsa games, does what it says, excellent MP abilities = Xbox360

Definitly a 360 imo , a ps3 isnt worth it at the moment because of the arse games that are out for it. ps3 i think will be better in time - with MGS4 coming out. But mind you thats the only game that i think is actually any good in their line up...

I always thought of the wii as a console where you would have it aswell of, but not instead of, a 360 or ps3.

I'll agree with that :)

It isn't just MGS4, your forgetting LittleBigPlanet. For me those are the two killer apps, but there are much more games coming out which look promising. People keep forgetting it's only in its first year, of course its going to get better as more software comes out.

for me now i would say the 360 but if sony start getting there finger out i think the ps3 has a lot more room for improvement than a 360.

PS3

Quiet and shiny.

Have a look at the games catalogue first mate. If you want to play games that are only on the 360 then get that. Not many exclusives on the PS3 atm.
