Considering buying a console...

It isn't just MGS4, your forgetting LittleBigPlanet. For me those are the two killer apps, but there are much more games coming out which look promising. People keep forgetting it's only in its first year, of course its going to get better as more software comes out.

I'm not forgetting LBP. How in the hell is a create your own level game a 'killer app'? I don't understand it. Re-Volt had the ability to make your own race tracks, TimeSplitters had a level designer built in for example. It's nothing that new.

I just think Home and LBP are the two most hyped things ever and I really can't see much in either (except for 'achievements' in Home).

well if u are going to use it as a media device as well i would get PS3, because it is very quiet and has bluray (HD films) and they look superb.

360 like having a hairdrier on underneath the tv.

Most the top games are on both consoles.

Personally I would suggest the 360. Yeah its noisey but as long as you have the TV at a normal level I don't really find it that bad. Loads of games you can choose from also better pads in my opinion.

True, Blu-Ray is excellent. However he wanted to connect to his PC directly, in which case the 360 is superior.

Pointless comment. Any reason why?

Most the top games are on both consoles.
Halo 3, Bioshock, PGR3, PGR4, Dead Rising, Test Drive Unlimited, Forza 2, Saints Row, Tomb Raider Legend, Gears of War, Crackdown, Oblivion (+ add-ons), Prey.

That's without naming the big titles coming out.

And those that are on both consoles are superior on Xbox360... except DiRT which really isn't that good.

Isn't Oblivion better on the PS3?

I believe the Xbox360 recieved an update to run the same (graphically), but on the Xbox360 you not only get the use of a far superior pad, but you get Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles (amongst others), so no, the Xbox360 version is superior.

I thought allthough it recieved the update it still didn't look quite as good. I must be wrong then. I do how ever agree about the pad though.

Well I have my PS3 connected to my pc and i stream Photos, Vids, Music all Via the built in WIFI of the ps3, so no messy wires in the LIVING room. That to me makes the PS3 superior.

The 360 is noisy and anyone who says it is not is DEAF, a media extender/centre in the LIVING room shoud be seen and not heard.

I said Top Games they were rubbish :) only joking.

I think that besides exclusives most of the big games next year from the big players will be multiformat (I Hope)

I can do that on mine?

They wouldn't be exclusive then would they...

Most the noise from a 360 comes when the DVD drive is spinning at full throttle (i.e. when you're playing games). For streaming and playing DVDs it's just the fans spinning and whilst not exactly silent it's a lot lot quieter.

was about to post the same, as a media center streaming from PC the 360 wins hands down, i tried this on the PS3 when the new update came out that allowed server streaming from certain apps like Nero and TBH it was pants compared to the 360. The media Center layout on the 360 is a massive difference in layout and cosmetic and ease of use. So no the PS3 isn't a better media machine for streaming your own content, yet it is better for DVD and Blu-ray. You cannot beat abit of HD-DVD streaming

360 for games but imo it is too noisy for a media centre, even without the drive spinning up

the ps3 looks more promising (in the future) as a media centre in the long run as it can run linux and the devs are trying to port xbmc to linux

No question about it - the PS3 wins with a knockout punch in regards to general multimedia & streaming from your PC. It looks nice under your telly & is very quiet too. Job done.

As for games - there's currently more choice on the 360. If you're just into gaming then it's the 360 - if you want a decent multmedia machine and play games as well then it's the PS3.
