Considering buying iPhone and iTouch

I dont really understand why you would use the iPhone "just as a phone". The Touch is pretty much identical to the iPod functuon on the iPhone.

I suppose I dont understand where youre coming from.

I personally have an iPod Touch 16GB and a SE w880i, best combination for my needs. Sleek phone WITH MMS (picture messaging) unlike the iPhone.

Also, if my iPod dies from low batt, after hours of music, my phone is still there for me to text (and vice versa, phone out of battery, I can still listen to my iPod Touch e.t.c.) - instead of a dead phone meaning dead music player too.

Go with the Touch and have a decent phone with better contract (or use your PAYG sim).

I hardly play with my w880i, sound quality is, imo, worst than the iPod and 1GB is used to store my random snaps, ringtones and space for more random snaps :D

The thing is, if you wanted a "special phone" then the iPhone might not be the right choice. Its a great gadget, but its not the best PHONE out there by a long shot.

If that is the case, then I would go with the Touch and a more fully featured phone (3G, MMS etc.)

You say that like the iPhone's different?

I'd say so, touch screen/wifi/full qwerty keyboard and other tricks definately sets it apart.

The only thing i really miss is a decent camera and video recording.

Any suggestions/opinions are really welcome.

I have an iPod Touch 16gb, using it for about a month now. I wouldn't want to own both devices, that would seem pointless. Although I think it would be great to have everything all it one, I think in its current form the iPhone isn't so good and I would stay with my Touch.

Reasons being, firstly, I mainly use my Touch on the train commuting into work, I always have music or video on it, so never feel that I have to be surfing the web, requiring the feature of the iPhone.

Otherwise its because:

- Slow phone data connection.
- Less storage.
- Using up battery life for the fact its a phone and media player.
- Poor camera.
- Can't use other brand headphones.
- MMS... forward messages etc...

I'd totally recommend the Touch (jailbroken), though it does have a few bugs. I say wait until they do something better with the iPhone.

Thanks for your reply. :) This is the kind of help i want.

Think i'm almost set on a touch, was going for 80b classic origanally, hope 16gb is enough. As for the iphone, i think i just want it for the interface. Major hit, as said, is the camera.

Can't find anything i am really intrested in now though, it needs to be sony/nokia, i've had enough of samsung. Need a nice thin phone, good looks, good camera, and it might sway me. 6500 classic is brilliant, but without the camera.

Check out the new SE W890i, an upgrade from the W880i, tasty. With bigger buttons (many people didn't like the small one, unlike me:P) and higher MPix Camera. Still sleek and thin as ever with the good and reliable SE interface.

Done :D

I really like the look of the 6500 classic. I currently have a touch, and fancy an iPhone so I can just carry one thing around, and use it for notes/calander etc. Not sure if I'll get one though tbh.

one or the other mate....i would say itouch and a mobile

i have an iphone and while its truly amazing in everyway its the cost of the contract that turns the deal to crap
