Hi,

I'm thinking about which SSD to get for my new build and I'm currently thinking about:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £188.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

It seems to get quite a favourable review

Other options I've considered:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £394.98 (includes shipping: £0.00)

I know the Sabrent gets a lot of love on here but I'm personally wanting to stick to more recognised brands, new offence ;)

Future silence focussed build it'll go in:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,383.83 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Struggling to see why I'd go for a 970 EVO over the gen4 Cardea Zero Z440, any thoughts?

Personally the value just isn’t there on either the Gen 4 drives or the Samsung 970 Evo Plus.

if the Sabrent isn’t your bag, maybe the Adata XPG SX8200 Pro? It’s also in the £100/1Tb range. So,is the Corsair MP510.

Cheers both, that's a fair point to be fair. MP510 is £110 versus +£79 for TeamGroup gen4, or +£85 for the WD Black, or +£90 for 970 EVO Plus. It's unnecessary like you say. Okay persuaded, thank you!

@davidmt83

from 10mins onwards.
you can thank us later for saving you some cash.
Cheers tamzzy. Appreciated. Yeah it's really not worth it it seems.

Would you particularly change anything else in my build to make it more silent? The only thing I'm left to decide on is a WiFi card, considering maybe the ASUS AC56 802.11ac card.

Final build would then be:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,428.80 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Cheers, I need to re-look over my choices and watch your videos.

Just on first glance I understood the DR4 to be quieter than the Sycthe although it was a while ago when I looked into this so can't be 100% certain, I think they were quite close to be honest.

Your RAM I guess you've gone for as it can be overclocked to 3600, suppose I just felt 3600 was the sweet spot so went for this.

Your mobo is an interesting one, I can't really counter that, would need to look into it more. I understood the Elite to have the best VRMs for the price.

Unsure on your PSU, the Corsair has a 0% fan curve until something like 30-40% load.

I guess with the case I was planning to switch the stock fans for the quieter Silent Wings so likely to match / maybe improve on your R6 maybe.

As far as I know the Red Devil is the quietest 5700 XT with the silent BIOS enabled.

Appreciate all your suggestions though :)

mugen 5 pcgh will probably be quieter as it has 2 fans, so can run at slower rpms compared to the stock mugen 5...which was already quiet to begin with. and ~£15 cheaper than the dr4

as does the phanteks, which is a rebranded seasonic focus plus gold

so £155 to match or give a negligible improvement to a £127 case...

ah fair enough. i've only seen the silent bios mentioned in passing at kitguru, i've not seen any benches with the silent bios, so can't really comment
