Considering getting crysis

Its been shown on various t'internet tech site articles that having >2gb makes absolutely no difference to Crysis' frame rate what so ever.

For me, I can run at 1920x1080 with full everything except Anti Aliasing, which anything over 2x just becomes a lagging nuisance. But I really didn't notice much of a difference between None and 2x especially considering the lovely motion blur, so I just run none because I get guaranteed 60fps all the time

And my 'manhood' is bigger than Godzilla!

My 8800 GTX wasn't enough for Crysis at 1680 x 1050. 4890 does the job but only on High (not Very High) I think, except maybe shaders.

OP IMHO your 8800 GTX will not play Crysis on High at 1920x1200. Crysis is FAR more graphically intensive than the COD games (even the latest). And yes we are talking about a 2007 game - this is why they still use crysis in many benckmark tests.

If you try and run at full settings on your machine it will not play in the sense it will only manage about 12 frame per second.

It's a very very demanding game.

Crysis is very scalable in my opinion. On my old 7800GT + E6600 i got 4fps on High (DX9) 1680x1050 in the benchmarks and 70fps at 800x600 on Low settings (looks poor)
My 8800GT upped the DX9 High to about 27 average FPS @ 1680x1050 (not quiet playable)
My current setup (i7 4Ghz + GTX 295) can only just handle max settings at 1920x1080 with the odd sub 30 fps scene.

I don't tend to use AA as it very demanding for this game but one thing I did notice was that Crysis (Warhead) at 1920x1080 looks pretty good even on minimum where fps can go 100+

Main point is a half decent PC can run crysis well so just buy it and play it :D Can always play again when you upgrade... :D

ahh fair enough. nothing wrong with playing a game powered by MS PowerPoint :D

and i'll be going to Tesco to see if they have it in stock when ive finished all my assignments. i should have bought it when it came out!
