Considering moving to 2 wheels...

Right, started looking at this seriously again now. I'm wanting to do my DAS in august, then ideally pick up a 5-600cc after.

This is what the instructors told me yesterday as another chap was mentioning picking up a 125 to ride about for a bit for experience to then sell on. They told him that for the initial outlay you may as well just go straight for a 5-600cc and just be sensible. This is what I plan to do however...

I've dropped the idea of getting a daft supersports bike

I haven't :p chances are I may not have the time when I'm older, though I hope I do. I have the self restraint and discipline not to bin it straight away.

Cost has put me off, a hornet or bandit can be insured for £400, a cbr600 is over a grand! Even a cbr125 with full license is 550...

Logic? I see none!

As someone who took the 125 route, I'd thoroughly recommend it. I'm much more confident than I was before. The great thing about it is you can learn at your own speed, without any pressure on you. It's a nice relaxed way of learning.

Having said this, I start my DAS course on a 500 tomorrow. I can't wait. :D

Wow I only turned 17 yesterday and I am going to be doing my cbt in the next few weeks and get on the road but the insurence for the bike I bought last month has went from £350 third party fire and theft to £500 :( but its still cheaper than a car. Saving about £2000 on insurence because if i got a bloody ford ka im looking at £2500 + for my first year which is dam right out of order!

The bike I've got is a Honda VT shadow 125 tho which I suspect is a lot cheeper than a sporty 125.
