For awhile now I've been with the benq 2420T, been great with cs go and other 120+ games. :D But the one thing I absolutely hate is the colours, their just so fugly. Been checking out the IPS monitors for their great projection of colours.

Since I have almost no expertise in monitors, I just usually go for the higher hrz :p

Would IPS be the current tech when aiming for colours?

I have an Asus PB278Q which is pls instead of IPS but I think they are largely similar. I went from 1080/120 to 1440/60 and I don't really notice the difference in he to be honest although I'm not a competitive gamer at all. Picture quality though was a big step up. Only had it a few days and not really played much on it yet to be fair.

As a gamer, you are looking at 8bit colour monitors. The thing with currenty available 120Hz monitor is, as you say, bad colour reproduction because they are 6bit panels. ANY IPS/PLS and other tech can do 8bit, 10bit or more (but as a gamer you need sRGB so 8bit covers it).

The worst part for you is you are limited to choose IPS etc panels that have fast response times (for that kind of tech) and particularly low ghosting. You will also find a lot of reviews on the same products contradict each other. Also, some of these type of monitors suffer from poor blacks and low contrast ratio.

I've gone from a 24" 120hz monitor to a 27" 2560x1440 ips and definitely notice a big difference when gaming, almost to the point where I wish I hadn't changed over.
