Considering ordering 60Gb video iPod...

It's one of the better choices out there.

I am not sure how much homework you've done, no player are perfect, and it includes the pod. But I consider on par depending on your use with the iAudio X5 and Creative M:Vision (also good players).

Hi there,

I've been using a black 60GB video iPod for a few weeks now and there's not been any problems with it yet.

I haven't had any experience with other players in its class so I can't really tell you its the best player there is. I use it in the office and on the bus and one charge lasts for 2 days.

The sound quality is quite good but I've not watched any videos on it.

Great DAP !!!! i would recommend one

btw ray, what case is yours modelling ?

I've had a black 60GB iPod video since xmas day. Absolutely awesome. A few initial video problems but if anything happens you just do a soft reset.

ENSURE you have a case. I would HIGHLY reccomend Agent 18 cases, which completely cover the screen and the unit. The iPods scratch VERY easily.

Have fun!

Hi there,

It's an aluminium case by a company called CoreCases:

It costs around £20 and it comes with a lanyard and a large detachable belt clip. The inside of the case is lined with something like neoprene.
Why would you do that, either ways its going to look wack either in the case or scratched. So you might as well save your self £20 and just keep it as it is.

Sepends if you have any other headphones and how much your going to be paying for it, I got mine (now sold for a nano) for £200 from MM. If I was going to get another video I would go for the 30Gb, looks so nice thiner.

I like to wear the player around my neck with the lanyard. The case comes with one and, obviously, a way of attaching the lanyard on.

Having a hard case is just a way of protecting the player from the occasional hard knock.

The player is used only for music (around 45GB). Not interested in watching videos at all.

I have a 60gb iPod video and I'm chuffed to bits with it! Sound quality is good (imo), plenty of storage and great videos/photos on it. Don't regret buying it all. BUY IT NOW!!!

60Gb and I've got:
2498 songs
51 videos
541 photos

that's very true, but tbh id rahter buy a cheaper non video player and sacrifice having a 10,000 song collection on my mp3 player than paying ~£250 for a 60gb video. I dunno id just do it differently lol

I'm beginning to regret posting in this thread :(

I originally had a 4GB nano but I wanted something with a bigger capacity.
Since
1. I quite liked iTunes
2. All my CD collection was already ripped to the hard disk in Apple Lossless format
3. I was already used to the iPod design

I decided to go for the video iPod. Since the 30GB version has a smaller buffer (32 vs 64MB) and smaller battery compared with the 60GB version I went with the latter. Additionally since my whole lossless collection would fit into the 60GB player I didn't need the lossy duplicates on the hard disk so that saved me 15GB in disk space.

Anyway I just wanted to treat myself to something :)

I would have done the same thing if I needed music on the go often. If anything, it's another backup of your collection. Granted, the odds of something happening to the iPod may be greater than a HD crash, but still.

I don't care about video playback either, and it has hardly any influence on my choice. The only thing that is wasteful IMO, is if you are using the stock iPod earbuds ;)

Since you paid that much for a player, I'd recommend getting a worthy pair of earphone/headphone to go with it :)

i have the 30gig one, one advantage is that its really thin. the 60gig model looks chubby compared to it

the contrast when watching videos is not excellent. It is fine for watching animated shows such as family guy (got all episodes on there :p ) but for watching tv shows such as lost its not so brilliant

and i just stick with a cloth cover for my ipod. using plastic, aluminum cases just ruin the looks of the thing. A cloth cover is plenty of protection from scratches when travelling in ** pocket, and u can slip it out when at a desk or something :o

my 60Gb iPod video is actually thinner than my old 4gb 20gb iPod :O

The 5G iPod (30/60GB) are both considerably thinner than the old iPods. But yea, the 30GB -is- thinner than the 60GB. I do consider the trade off of the 60GB worthwhile, but to each their own.
