Me: 46 yrs old, 25 years manufacturing experience much of it in management. Currently Plant Manager for global company. Currently responsible for ~$30 mill turnover. Decent salary. Bsc.

Looking for: Development in wider business skills, finance, sales strategies basically, the non-manufacturing side. Aim is to process to a General Manager / Business Director position

Also interested if anyone who has done this can comment on general weekly time commitment that is required

Thanks,

I did an MBA years ago at the beginning of my career. It is the only qualification or training I have which I genuinely benefit from on a daily basis. I am quite a specialised consulting doing market and financial analysis so it is more highly relevant than for many roles I guess.

While I did mine full time in the US, my wife very recently did one through the OU. She loved the course and I was very impressed with the materials and everything I saw. That was not too onerous in terms of time requirements. If you want me to ask her for specific feedback on how much time she put in I can.

I honestly think an MBA is a truly useful and applicable course compared to most degrees. Whether it will give you the leg up in your industry I don't know as very removed from what I do. It definitely got my career going and unlike my first degree it is still relevant and still works on my CV.

Been thinking about this myself. Fairly onerous costs though. Would allow a rotation into a few different areas.

Not sure if it still differentiates enough on this side of the pond?

Would be interested in hearing more Skidder.

Thanks. If you could ask her that would be great. I was just looking at the OU option along with others

She said on average about 8 hours per week of reading, more when there were essays / assignments or when there were tutorials.

Why do an LLB? What does that have to do with OP's question?
