I am considering getting the Scythe Kro Craft speakers, but I'm unsure about a couple of things.

Can I use them without an amp?
If not I was going to get the Kama Bay Amp Kro.
I think that it and the speakers are supposed to be sold as a set, not sure though.

I have integrated audio, is there any point in getting these speakers and amp, or do I really need a good sound card?

Thanks for reading.

I think your right in saying that they are designed as a set, the kro craft certainly look like passive speakers (e.g. require an amplifier).

Is there any specific reasoning for going with these speaker? I worry that the lowish efficiency speakers combined with the relatively low power amplifier might make for a quiet sound system.

Are you based in the US ? How much is postage to the UK? They certainly look good value, similar in design to these speakers:

EDIT: Found them in the UK for £40 + p&p, at that price point they may well be worth a gamble, if only p&p was lower.

I'm in the UK, I only linked to scythe usa for a full spec. I was interested in those speakers because I'm looking for a decent audio setup for gaming, films, music etc but I didn't want to break the bank. I've found both the speakers and the amp on an ocuk competitor for about £40 each (think they were on sale though). I know that sort of budget won't get me anything mind blowing, but I'd still like some decent kit.

P.s. sorry for the noobish question about amps.

Hi David. I have these scythe kro craft and kama amp combo and i can safely say there are no problems with how loud these things can go. The woofers provide ample bass, playing heavy dubstep and ludacris - how low can you go has mental bass and the woofers deal with this nicely. No distortion if your soundcard or source is set up correctly. All my mates say how good these things sound. FYI, the Kama Bay Amp have Yamaha IC chips inside so no cheap components and im sure that the speakers are not cheap either although i didnt manage to find the OEM who makes them for scythe.

Shawrey.

EDIT: Pic of my set up.

Thanks for the info mate, and for going to the bother of posting a pic. I wasn't sure about these speakers and amp at first considering how much money you can spend on a setup, I was worried that they might be a little weak. You've put my mind at rest now, so they will definitely be getting ordered now.
