Console Guru's

I can see that you're trying to be sarcastic, I just can't pin down the specific part of my post that you're aiming your sarcasm attempt towards.
Besides, I was responding to the OP, not throwing nuts to the chimps

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. It's a pretty screwed up situation if the slim still RRODs after all of Microsoft's posturing about eliminating the issue.

I honestly don't know how my post could have been construed as sarcasm. Maybe I just troll this place too much? :p

I would def choose a new elite because

1. almost half the price of new revised one (refuse to use name slim because it's not same size as original)

2. 3 year warranty the new one has 1 year and there is no evidence to backup if it is reliable yet.

3. the gloss looks horrible on new one but that is personal choice.

you have the old one, don't you?:p

The fan noise was never that bad in any of the 360 models, just them DVD drives..

Never that bad? Do you live under the flight path at Heathrow? Or 100 yards from a motorway?

15mins of play on that thing and my ears throbbed. Even after playing arcade .. Even my wife came into the room once and said WTF is that noise...

Sorry but you must have a very high tolerance to background noise or very low standards all round, if you think it was 'never that bad'

My mistake then, usually when people say things like that on these forums they're being mean lol, I'm not used to that kind of reaction to a post being genuine :D

Man these forums are evil!

It's a long thread but some of the people in it say that the new xbox shuts down when it gets too hot, even if you're playing a game at the time (any owners know if this is still true?) and one unlucky guy had to send his back as it overheated to the point of not working.

It really sucks because they look so new and shiny :(

The fans aren't a problem on the old 360 if you're lucky enough to get Nidec fans like my mate. I got the Deltas :(

It's all cool dude. I will have to look into this overheating issue closely as I was going to get one for when Reach comes out (surprise surprise, my old Xbox died :p)

WTF do you need 5 for? trying to compete with a helicopter on fan noise or something?

I have 360s all around the house different family members also like to play on them so when new revisions came out i got one and passed the old one to family member but i wont be getting the new one.

There is nothing wrong with the noise of the 360 yes the fans make a noise so what the dvd drive is far louder but that is solved with copying to hard drive and you shouldn't be sticking your ear right next to it which is what your clearly doing no one would hear the fans over sound system while playing games and if you can then it's your sound system we need to moan about.

Yes it's true. MS told about this feature before the console came out. It;s not BECAUSE it's overheating it's to prevent that from happening (and therefore them spending millions upon millions replacing consoles again).
