Consoles dying.

I've had:

Master System II
Mega Drive II
Playstation
Dreamcast
Playstation 2
Playstation 3
PSP 1000
PSP Go
Nintendo 3DS
Xbox 360

The day I brought home my PS2 I sat down, put GTA3 in and as I was driving around the cars were falling through the scenery, I only had this and Max Payne to begin with, so I tried Max Payne as well and the graphics were all weird, took it back and got a replacement with the same issue, I got that one replaced also and the replacement model they gave me is still working to this day. :)

I had a 360 RROD on me but it was a Falcon model and I'd had it 3 years or so, it had been used for hours on end day after day so I was quite surprised that it lasted so long.

I've never had a problem with any of my other consoles but to be honest I like to keep things as "new" as possible if that makes sense, they're really well looked after.

Had 1 xbox die on me but the warranty situation was good enough for me to not really complain about it to be fair. Exchanged within 2 days with no cost to me at all. Got a PS3 at the moment which gets quite moderate use, although battered at weekends and thats going strong so far.

I bought a 2nd hand xbox360 for less than retail value and got the RROD after a few months. Got the persons details to get it fixed and they sent me a new one out :)

i've had consoles since Intellivision, Atari 2600, C64 ... and the only consoles that died on me were the X360 (xenon) and PS3 (phat)

Assuming you mean consoles as in the modern incarnations (NES and above)

NES x1
Master System x1
SNES x1
Megadrive x1
Saturn x1
PS1 x 4 (Each one broke with the disk read error which sony insisted wasn't a fault, yeah right)
Dreamcast x 1
PS2 x 3 (See PS1)
Xbox x 1
Xbox 360 x 3 (1 RROD, 2 Drive)

All kept well vented

0/1 NES
1/2 SNES
0/1 Gameboy
0/2 Xbox 360
1/1 3DS

The SNES that I bought in 1992 died in 2000 but Nintendo replaced instantly for free.

Different story at the moment with my 3DS, dies after 1 week and I have been fobbed off by ShopTo and Nintendo who have had the console for nearly a week and have not bothered to even look at it.

An interesting bit of info is that on the PS3 the YLOD errors can come from repeated cooling/heating of the solder so actually it would be better to keep the machine on instead of turning it on and off a lot.

So maybe using a console less is more damaging to the machine?

0 x 1 SNES
0 x 4 PS1
0 x 2 PS2
0 x 1 Dreamcast
0 x 1 Gamecube
0 x 1 xbox
0 x 1 PSP
2 x 2 xbox360
4 x 1 PS3

The PS3 has been the worse, dead lasers mostly. All of them Sony 40GB refurb models apart from the first one I got from Tesco which died and was replaced. Daren't use my PS3 anymore in fear of it dying on me.. lol

I treat all my stuff with care, so to have so many PS3 consoles die is a bit of a joke..!!

I've owned an xbox360 twice, both failed and replaced by MS, sold them both once replaced. Should do the same with the PS3 TBH..

I had the following consoles

Master System
Mega Drive
Dreamcast
Xbox
Gamecube
Playstation
Playstation 2 (x2)
Playstation 3

Handhends.....
GBC
GBA
GBA SP
PSP
NDS

Only one I have ever go faulty is my 1st PS2 and that only started to struggle reading disks due to the amount I used it! Some games would read and some wouldn't!

I do look after all my gaming things tho, I feel sorry for all the people getting RROD and YLOD, I have had my PS3 since release and I am always on it, touch wood never had a problem!

How come you leave your consoles on Pause for days at a time!? thats bonkers! :)

I've had a couple of red rings on the old 360 and my Wii died on me as well. The PS3 slim and 360s have been faultless. All were treated the same way and were quite well looked after.

1 Wii (which I really couldn't give a toss about) and 1 360, which was well ventilated and only shown love and flowers on valentines day.

Also an Amiga. But that was 20 years old, and it only died as the CMOS battery leaked and corroded the motherboard.
