I defragged my PC and now it wont boot up, its stuck in a constant reboot cycle. It gets as far as the XP boot screen then a BSoD flashes up so quickly it cant be read followed by the PC rebooting again and so the cycle starts again.

What is going on ? Why has a simple Defrag which ive done many time before cause this problem. Ive had this problem before, along time ago and i ended up re-formatting but i dont want to do that if it can be help.

I cannot start in safe mode as it just cycle as above nor does last working configuration work either.

Did you use windows defreg tool or something else?

Likely a system file has been defragged onto a bad sector, and now windows can't complete loading, scan drive for bad sectors, and then repair option.

Yeah used windows defrag too. I will try and run a scan but how do i do that - boot from my windows xp disc ?

Safemode with or without command prompts doesnt work
