Is it just me or are these idiots becoming more common? I actually had one overtake me on a 30mph (I was doing 30) road today, after hitting the NSL I was getting held up within about half a mile or so by the same idiot as he proceeded to drive at 45mph.

Lol, that's almost the exact expression I was wearing I reckon, only I was shouting 'WHHHHYYYYY????? ' at the same time :D

Yup, although sometimes you get backwards speed limit man. ( or woman - I'm very PC you see)

In fact often, on my journey to and from work on a long A road where the speed limit changes from 50 - 40, people will do 50 in the 40 but 40 in the 50??

Which is incredibly annoying because the 50 zone is a lot longer.

My journey to work of 30 miles is predominantly on country lanes. And yes I agree that these drivers are becoming more common. It's unbeileavibly poor driving and ranks up there with the types who brake hard when it's dark and a car comes the other way.

They're like oh noes the world has vanished, I must stop before I fall of the edge, oh hang on, it's back! (accelerate back to 40)

Ha - yes its incredibly annoying.

Sit at 40 in a 60, come into a 30 and continue at 40. Come out the other side into a new 60 section and 40 it is!! And then when you overtake them, they flash and make "self loving" gestures.

The brake for oncoming cars at night thing is another shocking display of poor driving ability.

What do you do at "Rusian Roulette" roundabouts? You all arrive at the same time and no one wants to be the first to blink. :)

I drive to work on an NSL road which drops to 30 through each town, so I see this A LOT and I'm like:

Though I do enjoy doing 30mph in the towns and collecting a rear bumper full of angry people then destroying them as we pass the NSL signs never to see them again and I'm like: HAHA! Take that! Yor wee-wee is small!

As above, I drive to work on lots of great NSL roads with a few 30's thrown in every now and then.
THE single most annoying type of driver IMO. No spatial awareness. Arrrgh!

See this a lot on my way to training. the majority of the way is 30mph but there is a section on a long road at the nsl. Every time it seems people think that 40mph is the best average speed no matter what so they catch you up and overtake at 40 then proceed to keep doing 40 for the whole nsl section. Its almost like they think a white circle with a black line through it means 'keep up the good work! you're an amazing driver!'

I brake tested an ~18 year old girl riding on my bumper today in a similar situation...she flashed me! I know I shouldn't have done it, but I felt nervous with her so close to me. If I'd had to brake sharply, she'd have gone through my boot. Hopefully she'll consider that next time!

Thanks for the info etc.

I'm absolutely convinced at least 50% of the driving public think that white circle with black line = 40mph. (I know it is for lorries on single carriageway)

This is a nightmare on the moors nsl roads, people just drifing along in their own little world at 45mph regardless of posted limits.

Something else I've started to notice more is people breaking for no aparant reason when a car comes in the opposite direction on a single lane nsl road, like its going to deliberately colide with them

This, People really don't know what the NSL sign means or what the speed limit is on country roads.

I also really hate the ones that brake constantly, every slight bend, like they are really nervous.

I really hate it when I come off a NSL B road and enter a town which has a 30mph limit, so I slow, and then people start flashing from behind. I'm sorry, but **** off, i'm not getting points just because you don't want to obey the law. Overtake me and get arrested if you don't like it.

As soon as it gets to a NSL b road bit again, I blast off up to 60, and they fall behind. Makes no sense what so ever

Jesus, don't even get me started. Over the past 3-4 days i've noticed that people EVERYWHERE are driving at 35-40 mph! Literally on my 12.5 miles drive to work, i end up overtaking 2 or 3 people because they don't seem to be able to drive over this one single sodding speed.

The worst is when i'm behind a 3 or 4 car queue, with everyone doing 40mph because the person behind the front car either has a 1.1 POS and doesn't have enough power to overtake a bicycle, or because they themselves are also a "40mph moron". Either way, i can't overtake so i'm forced to sit there at 35mph.

what I dont get, is why people insist on sitting bumper to bumper with absolutely no intention of ever overtaking the person in front. Quite a few very open and long overtaking spots on my 20 mile work journey and its heavily used by HGVs dues to the amount of quarries in Buxton where I work, so quite often will get 6 cars+ all bumper to bumper behind the HGV the entire way.

Leave a bloody gap and let other people progress quicker ffs!!!
