What used to be a UK
prior to January I sent £550.00 to a holiday company which one week later went bust. The company was a member of abta and so we got £500 back. However I have just been told by abta that they do not reimburse the holiday insurance and that I should abroach them the insurers for the remaining £50.00. Having been in touch with the insurers, they claim that they never received the insurance payment and that the travel company never paid it.

Strictly speaking if the insurance company never received the payment it can't be said to be an insurance payment I am trying to claim back. What I would like to ask in these circumstances is whether Abta should have returned the full amount?

Did you pay by credit card? If so, claim it back from them.

Otherwise, you're probably stuffed...
