Consumer right to a refund?

I would say that they're not entitled to a refund on the RAM if the retailer is able to offer a repair or like for like replacement. You can ask fora refund, they may oblige. You may also be able to get one if you can prove there's an inherent design fault in the RAM, I think that may buy you some bargaining room with the retailer, but I don't think it's a guarantee. In this situation, if I'd simply changed my mind I'd accept the replacement and sell it on elsewhere. You'll lose some money, but it was your mistake to purchase the product without researching it first.

I think that under the sales of good act you have the right to reject goods and demand a refund if they are inherently faulty.

I believe that the allowed time for discovery of so called inherent faults is 6 months.

However in practical terms getting a refund for your ram will depend on the attitude of the retailer verses your tenacity.......

A pal of mine had a problem with a few PC parts he purchased from an online retailer ( not ocuk by the way) and after some discussion with the retailer , 2 or 3 different agents until he got through to a decision maker , they agreed with the above interpretation and gave him a full refund. In my pals case it was about £300 or so. This was 5 months after he had purchased his parts.

I will try and dig out the information and provide a link later.
