Consumer rights question

It'll be nowhere near as good speakers and an amp for 1100.

Sound bars are not a good substitute for a proper speaker system. They're for convenience so really shouldn't be getting to those silly prices.

You are missing the point here.

People who buy soundbars don't do it because they want 9.2 atmos systems. It's usually because of space restrictions, not wanting wires, etc.

I also have a set of speakers and an amp in the living room. Soundbar is for the bedroom. Having a full on system in the bedroom as well would be overkill. So yes I bought a soundbar for that reason.

If you want a decent soundbar you need to spend minimum £500 brand new. And by decent I mean one that has acceptable sound quality for what I'm used to. I bought mine second hand though for £160 (it was £500+ new).

Thanks for that information. I had no idea at all that would be the case.

Guys seriously? What is wrong with you people... Any opportunity to try and "educate".

Are you serious?

You guys should google Yamaha YSP 5600 if you think £1300 for a soundbar is eye watering, it's the going rate for a very good one. Also Yamaha >>>> Sony. I wouldn't touch any other company. In fact I've bought 3 yamaha soundbars over the years (1 as an upgrade the other as a christmas gift).

That would be my replacement...but unfortunatly too high to fit where its home would be.

Agree on Yamaha over Sony. I bought last year I really needed a new sound system to rid my lounge of discreets. It was the only one at the time that was spec wise good and had hdcp 2.2

I think you should go and listen to one in a cinema room. I won't for a minute say as good as discreets...but you would be very surprised.

I much prefer the simiplisicty in my lounge...and fact my kid has less to "play" with.

Anyway thread was about something else.

There are some very broken people responding in this thread (or just petty jealousy but it amounts to the same thing ).

OP to echo what other better responders have said in this thread, the way you have described the problem the law is on your side, stick to your guns and one of the three will back down and cover costs. It has worked for me electronics in the past it just needs persistence and patience and they'll eventually realise your not a mug who's going to roll over :)

Jealous? Are some people so small minded that they can only rationalise criticism into jealousy?

Jealous of what exactly as well?

So many people who don't know there rights as a consumer, its rather concerning....

Id do either of these first:

1. Since you bought it from Amazon, contact through Live Chat / Phone, be very firm and specially if you use the live chat use simple language.
2. Strongly worded emails referencing the law and threaten court action to the company.

Do not back down and don't take no for an answer.

Amazon have been very good with me the time I've been using them, I'd try them first.

You are fully within your rights for a repair/replacement.

Envy of what though? Either one is bad enough.

Envious of what someone else has, in this context it would be an expensive soundbar. People couldn't be jealous as the OP isn't trying to take anything away from them.

Seems they have changed this in the dictionary anyway since I last looked. Was only a matter of time I guess.
