Contact Lenses - Who wears them?

Am currently thinking of getting contacts myself, my eyes are really suffering and i sware in the last year or so my right eye has got 10 x worse and i cant wear glasses at work due to saftey glasses (i realise you can get prescription ones but they wouldnt last long)

How do people with hayfever get on with contacts? I get it really bad and get dry/gritty eyes would this stop me getting contacts?

I wear contacts and have done since about the age of 12 (25 now). I use Biofinity monthlies and have done for a few years with no substantial problems. I normally buy them online using quidco from whichever companies is offering the best price with cashback, and get a free eye test from tesco every 12 months :)

I wear contacts, but suffer from dry eyes so have recently changed to Focus Dailies. Due to being in front of the computer all day, i try to take them out after 9hrs of use and at the weekend wear my glasses where possible.

Acuview Moist daily wearer here. They're a great lense in my opinion, they even come in astigmatic versions for those with egg eyes like me.

I work in a heavily air conditioned environment (about 4% humidity) and they only start feeling dry after about 14-16 hours wear.

I'd really recommend them for people like me who need the convenience of dailies but either have dry eyes or work in dry environments.

Not cheap, I was with Vision Express for years paying £25ish a month for 20 pairs, but they screwed me about so I now buy online at about £32 for 30 pairs, enough for 6 weeks use.

anyone know of a site where you can search contacts by prescription.
finding it hard to find a toric one with 140 on the axis most go up in 20s, so 120 or 160. does this matter?
optician has a poor and expensive selection and really want dailies rather than the monthly ones.

You're really unlikely to find a daily with an axis of 140. If it's only 0.75 then 120 or 160 might be ok (it also depends upon if the type of daily you wear rotates when it's in your eye, in other words the axis would then be adjusted anyway to correct that rotation.) Otherwise why not dry the 2 weekly Acuvue Oasys which does come at 140 (although obviously there's the cleaning faff to deal with).

Saw an advert on the tube this morning for Acuvue Oasys, any idea how they compare to Acuvue Moist? These would be 1-day lenses for astigmatism.

They seem very similar to me, there's vague mentions of them being better suited for longer periods of display usage but then that was how Moist was advertised as well. For what it's worth, Moist are fantastic lenses so I'm in no hurry to change, just curious.

that's annoying, one is +0.5 pwr, -1.75cyc, 140 ax (the one i cant find) and the other is +0.75 pwr, -1.75 cyc, 180ax (very easy to find).

Is your prescription a contact lens one, or is that your glasses prescription? I'd ask an optician because it might be a case of it not really mattering - I've always been told that contact lenses will never be quite as good as a bang-on glasses prescription, but the idea is that you'll still be in one of the top percentiles in the country, and have a ton more convenience.

The -1.75 at 140 will really screw you over if you deviate too far from it. Dailies have a reduced range of axis offerings than monthly/two-weekly lenses. In your situation I'd probably do a free trial with an optician and see what the quality of vision would be in the right eye with a closest you can get fit daily lens and if that's not acceptable opt for better vision but more hassle with an Oasys two weekly lens.
