I've never had super sharp vision and I've never really had bad vision either but I think Im struggling more and more with my focus and think its time to get some contact lenses. I can't really have glasses as I've gone 22 years without wearing any.

I just squerm at the fact of messing in your eye or if they can get lost in your eye :) Also with your fingers in your eyes everyday can they get damaged?

Any contact lens wearers want to sooth my fear

i put a pair in once, that was 5 months ago, doc says if im lucky ill be able to make out dark shapes on a dark background (when the puss stops errupting)

Hehe no sorry, im in a silly mood.

I dont wear them but all the people that i have ever known that do have no problems what so ever, sure its going to be freaky for a month or 2 but follow the guidelines remember to tkae them out and u wont have any problems.

They all have their stories about forgetting to take them out, or the " one slipped up onto the top of my eye" line but dont worry about it, try em if u like em use em if u dont, bump into things more :)

Careful where this goes, I think this could be borderline medical and they are not allowed. :)

I will delete my post when a Don tells me otherwise, when one wakes up that is, slackers. :p

That can't happen.

I was the same as you when wondering whether to get lenses, I did about three months back and I don't regret it at all. I wear 2-weekly lenses so I wash them every night and then replace them every other week, and it honestly isn't a hassle at all. You get used to putting them in and taking them out.

its not medical yet! lol, id say more a discussion on whether contacts are a good idea or not :) but please stay yewen :D

Can someone tell me when it gets medical please. :D

(Actually don't let it get there)

I used to wear glasses an age ago, could never stomach the idea of putting something on my eye, but once it is there I can imagine they are much better than glasses.

..its just like you can see normally..it comes naturally after a while - took me ages to put them in take them out when i first used them but now it takes bout 3seconds

its not like you prod your eyeball or anything, just put them on. As long as you don't wear them too long its fine.

I've worn them for years. They're great, really easy to put in eventually and you can't feel them at all unless you have them in all day and night. Some lenses even allow that though.

Nothing to worry about mate :)

I've been wearing contacts for years now and could never go back to Glasses now.

Recently I've switched to Acuvue Torics whch have worked out to be my best contacts yet. Extended Wear means I keep a set of lenses on for 7 days constantly then replace with a new pair at the end of the week.

I'm being completely honest when I say that 95% of the time I'm completely unaware that the lenses are even there. The only times I notice them are first thing in the morning as yor eyes are a tad dry and then the odd occasion where the lense may move.

If you really want to try, most optitions these days do free contact lens trials. That's how I started and it really is the best way to find out without having to plunge straight in.

I have been thinking heavily about getting contact lenses. I have Astigmatism in one eye and keracatonus in the other. Keracatonus is a coned like shape of the cornea. My left eye has actually improved but my right eye is becoming horrendous. I have heard of lenses that you put in over night that reshape your eyes, so when you remove in the morning, you can go the whole day with pretty much perfect vision.

I think I will be going next week to have an eye test and see if I can live with wearing lenses. I do have extremely sensitive eyes!! :(

Your eyesight sounds like it's probably similar to mine .. I'm -0.75 in my left and -1.00 in my right

I can see ok without my glasses/lenses but I feel more comfortable wearing them as I like to see edges on things :p

I don't mind wearing my glasses most of the time but I don't like wearing them in the Gym or when I go out etc so I now use daily disposables

Desmo wears the 30 day continuous wear ones which I wanted to use but after a trial it was discovered that I had a slight allergy to the solution so the disposables are ideal for me.

As for putting them in and out - it does take me a few mins because I'm not wearing them every day and I find it far easier to remove them. I don't take them in and out the way I was taught - I found my own method which works quite well.

I've never liked anything or anyone touching my eyes but you really do get used to it ... it's great having crystal clear vision without wearing glasses :D

If you get down to specsavers they put you on a free trial - give it a go :)

Laser surgery? One treatment and no need to go fishing in your eyes twice daily?

Worked for me.

That's pretty much the same perscription as mine. Can see fine without but at distance nothing is crisp and clear.

I've wanted Contacts for a few years... nearly took the plunge about 6 years ago but it was gonna cost me £30/month

I've got a Astigmatism and very Crap (Short Sighted) sight!, and I'm not sure of what type of lenses to go for now!... There's loads!...

What sort of price/month and I looking at (approximatly)

Plus I'm not squemish about touching my eyes!... and my Optician said I've (her words) "Very Jucy Eyes" so no probs with em drying! :D

(This ain't medical advice I'm after just Cost Advice!!)
