So i contacted my ISP as we need faster speeds here, my step uses it to upload all his work information when he gets home, and he receives his next days work over night
my mum uses it occasionally (quick books , emails etc)
Both use it to watch amazon prime / netflix etc now and again, and they download old programs they've missed on occasion too
I use it for gaming, watching videos etc (so hefty downloads sometimes like Forza Horizon 4 ultimate + updates, steam games etc etc
I've been told we will not go Fiber (my step dad is very anti about his downtime because of his work and we've had lots of holes drilled before for telephone and broadband wires on more than 2 occasions)
So anyway, we are fairly close to the exchange here, i always thought we where on an 8Mb line, i download upto 10Mb/s
contacted my ISP about getting a faster speed on the same line, as there email reply is as follows (i don't understand there email and im hoping somebody can shed some light on this please)

and there 2nd email :
Hi,
on follow up to the previous email, you are not on an 8Mb service as you are currently connected at approx 12Mbps, the maximum your line can take on ADSL.
If you require more speed then FTTC is the only option.
No extra holes are required as the service is delivered through the existing telephone line, all work is done outwith the premises.
Hope this helps,
Steve
