Most ISPs will provide a router for free or a nominal amount.
Contacted my ISP about getting more speed (ADSL only)

Finally convinced mum its a good idea
ill be phoning up Plusnet to ask questions (then going through Quidco)
Their deal ends today, works out £38 a month for Fibre MAX, sky want £52 a month, BT want £59 !
Anyone got a plusnet router can confirm how many ports you can connect to it and i assume wireless as well ?

answered my own question
The Plusnet Hub One is our fastest ever router. It uses dual band smart Wi-Fi technology, which means more devices connecting at the best possible speed.
If you're not using Wi-Fi, the Hub One also includes four Ethernet ports (GigE) for high speed wired connection.
