Contacting Publishers & Developers about no longer buying their products

Games are far more expensive and take a lot longer to make now.

EA rely on a few big blockbuster Triple A games a year now, and they tend to aim for the lowest common denominator that will ensure the most sales as opposed to taking risks.

That's the reality of the situation. Your letter will make no difference.

Does everyone feel strongly about things like this?

Surely if people do, between the community we have here we could draft a constructive letter, and "sign" with a list of people, rather than just one person.

Would maybe have more momentum, and I'm sure people here "know" some streamers and news sites to get further attention?

If it means we can get rid of zombies from games then i'll sign! So sick of them :D

The only thing EA will look at is the sales. The only way for them to take notice is to get a load of people to not buy their products however gamers are the most fickle of all, complaining how EA are ruining gaming but then pre-ordering Battlefront 2 after the 'totally awesome' gameplay footage.

This, gamers are about the most gullible of any comsumer (me included) and definitely the most fickle, they may once promise not to buy from <insert whomever> but let see a new flashly game arrive, and they forget everything and throw money at it.

Stop buying from them and bloody stick to it.

Feel free to drop in a mention of Darkspore too....

Oh, also some of their scummy actions in games like Unravel...

EA don't care, they are only interested in if something sells or not. If it sells, usually because it's recycled formulas, then they will carry on pushing the same old stuff out. If something doesn't work out, it couldn't possibly be EA's fault but the developer gets it in the neck (Andromeda).

I won't be buying Battlefront 2 ever. If you want to get EA's attention OP, I suggest you really need to make more use of social media and perhaps some kind of rant that gets a lot of attention, somewhat like this:

I would recommend writing the game name in full, at least once before using abbreviations. It is entirely possible the ceo's have no idea what you are talking about. Specifics of projects are way below their pay grade.

it will end up with some secretary eating muffins and then put in the bin unless its of somekind of importance or relevance.thats why somewhere like reddit would be better or a video.thing is like anything media now big companies will have sway over things that could damage them.reddit , youtube whatever.if they want it down removed it will be.especially if it costs sales.

i once wrote a quite detailed letter on bf3 and changes for next games forth coming and simple changes that would help make for a better experience.it was handed to a high person to do with EA and i know certain people seen in.then next game comes out and you see literally all the things i mention to be tweaked which are mentioned all the time in the next game.it is infuriating if you very pationate about games and see half measures.the commerical machines that they are though have no soul or care about if its the best game only how much profit can be made.

Nobody is actually going to read it if you send a letter. Like DG said your better of taking a picture of the text and getting people to share it on social media.

If you send a letter in then the following will most likely happen:

1. It will end up at the 'customer care' department (or whatever it's called at EA)
2. Customer care will flag it as a 'negative' letter and possibly offer you some type of discount / voucher on a future purchase
3. On a weekly/monthly basis, customer care will generate a report based on how many negative letters/emails etc. they have had in the last month
4. The stats from the report is delivered to a senior management level. The management will want to ensure that complains are below a certain level, but as long as they are then they won't make any major changes.

It's all about volume rather than content. EA will react if they see a spike in complains about a specific thing, but individual, isolated complains will be just added to the stats.

Wasn't that the game Robin Williams played?

Why do so many gamers get upset with this? In an age they share their lives online, every moment at that and gamers get upset at sharing data statistics?

He did!? Going to have to search for that :D

Because those that use fb etc to tweet their goings on have opted to do so. I don't have fb (got banned lol, because refuse to use my real name), I use twitter, never put anything that's identifiable about me on there, same goes for forums etc.

If I buy a game, I bought the game, not some spyware.
If firms want to go digging through folks HDDs/browsing tabs etc, than they can give the games away & make their money that way (as long as it's in the EULA etc).

Battlerite, a game I bought early on, did similar.
They posted a copy/paste of a new EULA stating they'd be looking at open browser tabs, history & all sorts of things, none of which is sod all to do with them at all!
It later got changed, to "If you enter your email for a free spare (limited) game key, we'll do just that.

I could understand it if they were looking for some hack/cheat program, but they're going far beyond that.

P.S. I miss Darkspore :(

You have posted 3 threads at least railing on EA, One on micro transactions in SWBF2, one on some google docs survey about how bad EA are, and now this one?

I don't know but have you got a job for one of EA's competitors? or is it homework or a project your trying to get done?
If not may i suggest taking your mind of your EA issues somehow, maybe some me time with some gentlemans special interest literature always lowers my stress levels.

They're coming to steal your soul pal!

Ah, Spore, not Darkspore :)

R.I.P. Robin Williams though :(

It was the legs that reminded me of it. Yeah, funny guy. I'll miss his humour.
