So my once high end build is now getting on a bit (however must admit it still runs like a dream and seems to play almost all games practically maxed out).

I built it when core2duo chips were new, whenever that was!

With the exception of RAM which is now 4gb, my spec is in my sig...

So should I actually upgrade?

Edit: I should mention I use my PC 90% for games

Edit: I should also mention I game as 1680x1050, however having said that, I would probably buy a larger monitor or go back to gaming 1920x1080 if I did upgrade..

Edit: Budget - I don't have one, i'll spend anything that's justified

What res do you play at and do you play many new games? Also what would your budget be if you did want to upgrade?

The jump from duo to quad will be very noticable, same can be said going from a 8800GTX to a 560Ti.

no budget, within reason. Best bang for buck

and 1680x1050 at the moment

And yes I play new games, but most of them run just fine on an 8800gtx and c2d with max settings, usually with the exception of maxing AA

I'd say if your happy at the moment with it then not to bother yet. you've said it runs like a dream at the mo and as long as it is not one of those dreams where you pc does not work then save your money till you are seeing it struggle. By the time that happens the new round of CPUs and GPUs will be out and you should see more worth for what your paying for.
Nothing worse than spending a load of money and thinkin "This doesn't seem much better than what I had before".
