Contender for Scythe Gentle Typhoon replacements?

Did you place the NB eLoops in the push position instead of pull onto a radiator?

That will make a significant difference due to the aerodynamics of the fan.

Think I may have had them in a push config, but even so, they were really noisy. Still a bit irrelevant now as I don't have them any more to test in pull config. Thanks for the info though.

Welp thanks for the results Tonester0011! For me at least I'm looking for 24/7 operation so if noise of the DS fans at 12v is more noisy than the GT AP-15 at 5v then it's not a suitable upgrade.

We tested a fair few fans against GT's for 8Pack systems.

NB E Loops and Corsair SP where the best replacements for GT's. Still not quite a GT though.

I would just buy 2nd hand GT's , spray paint the blades to desired colour and braid the cable. I run my GT1850's at 1300RPM and they are virtually silent.

1300rpm!! Silent!
That's bloody loud for me :(

As above, getting second hand GTs will be a nightmare :( SP120s are actually pretty decent though.

Lucky enough I still have 7 GT1850 with me from my last build lol

Altho I need 16 fans in total for my new Caselabs M8, so I got NB eLoops instead lol

The sub 1k rpm fans I mentioned were doing good job on ek pe rads, push/pull.
Much quieter than anything you will get from so called 'performance' fans.

yeah, i have 10 of the phobya NB eloops in my current build (like the colour scheme xD) and running at 7v they are silent and barely audible at 12v. i will attest to the fact they do create a bit more noise in push rather than pull, but adding a 2mm gasket has helped to pretty much eradicate that noise! i currently have them at running at full whack (slightly over-volted in one case, pushing 1700 rpm and still silent [exhaust]). martinslab did a huge review of fans and radiator combination. so it would actually most likely be better to figure out what size/thickness radiators you have space for and then look at what fans perform well on those particular ones.

So has anyone considered trying out the 2k or 3k Noctua IndustrialPPC fans?

Numbers look pretty similar but obviously tone and pitch when undervolting can be completely change viability of 24/7 use.

Acoustical Noise: 43.5 dB(A)
that makes them no where near the GTs :p

The 2Ks are under 30dba same as AP15s and have more paper pressure.

Obviously noise and pressure isn't a linear scale but at 7v the 3Ks should be under 25db and on paper almost 50% more pressure than an AP-15 at 12v.
