It seems like there's another retro arcade company called continue arcades, I've never heard of them until they popped up on my FB timeline saying that they are opening a branch in Derby.

Main HQ page: www.continuearcades.com/

Looking forward to this when I go back to visit people...

Thanks for the heads up, will have to check it out, I’m only down the road

That is awesome, it is about an hour or so away from me. I usually go to the Pixel Bunker to get my arcade fix, but haven't been down for a few years now. I might check this place out once it opens.

I have been keeping an eye on them as they are local. They recently got the keys (31st May) and they are currently outfitting the place it looks like its going to be 2 floors. Looks pretty good to be fair. They are also open to suggestions for games etc. I am hoping its better than PixelBunker as i wasnt that impressed to be honest. We are off to Arcade Club in Bury again on the 4th July.

They have a facebook page Continue Arcades Derby.

From what I have heard nothing compares to the Bury arcade so the bar is very high! I haven't been to the Pixel Bunker in a few years, what were the main issues? I ask, as me and the other half were thinking of going soon :).

I thought it was pretty small and a bit expensive considering there is less than half the choice of Arcade Club in Bury, actually you could probably fit the whole of Pixelbunker in one of the floors at Bury. Didnt have a great array of games and some of them were not working, faulty or turned off/ The price is almost the same but you are limited to 3 hours where in Bury you can buy a ticket from 11am then turn up whenever and stay untill 11pm if you like. There is also plenty of onsite refreshments with a couple of bars and a snack place inside. Only thing better with PB was that there was more parking but it was loads more expensive.

I'd love to go to the Bury one, but it is a bit too far :(. I have found the Pixel Bunker to have a few broken cabs over the years, last time I went they had gotten rid of the Time Crisis 2 two player cab, I was gutted. I mainly go for the lightgun games, Bury looks like it has it all!

Yeah, it is very different. 17 Quid for 3 hour session isnt great especially with machines turned off or broken. That said there were a couple of the machines in Bury that had dodgy sticks/buttons.

Opens on Friday 3rd July :D

a lot sooner than I thought based on the earlier images. Seeing as they will get up and running before the school holidays, I might take a trip up.

A new video has gone up of a load of the machines being delivered. Looks like a great array of cabs and games.
Just saw the video, definitely a good selection there. I'd be interested in playing Ghost Squad, played the home version on the Wii, but I have never seen a cab in the wild.

I didnt see that one. I did see Star Wars Arcade as well as a Star Wars Battlepod.. Without the pod. lol. Also Ridge Racer, 4 Player Grid, House of the dead, Rambo Arcade, Luigis Mansion (I think) Mario Kart Arcade and a few more. I did note there was one of the new space invaders games that are not great and where ever i go i dont think i have ever seen anyone playing it.

One of the games i would have like to have seen would have been one of the laserdisk games like mad dog mcree. Might not be the best of games but they sure are a spectacle with the big screen. I understand tho its a big space needed for one of those.

I recently played Mad Dogg Mcree on the PS3 and thought it was good, bit frustrating at times - But that is mostly down to the move controller being inaccurate. There is an episode of Games Master that featured the arcade cabinet, it does look quite big.

Have you managed to check it out over the weekend? :)

No might be weekend after next as we went to Arcade Club in Bury this weekend.

As you mentioned it’s a bit far for you to go to Bury I did notice there is a decent looking hotel with a really nice pub that does a banging carvery less than 5 mins away from the arcade. :D

Actually played it at Arcade Club this weekend it’s in the adults only section. Not the huge one but it was decent fun.
