Hi all, I have just come to the end of my 18 month Online 20 contract, and so I'm looking to get some benefits...

I'm with O2 atm, and can get a number of phones for free as an upgrade. I dont really use the £20 a month (i.e. never use half the texts and rarely hit the minutes).

I want to stay with a contract for convenice.

I have just spoke to O2 and they say I can have most of the handsets for free, including the Sony Ericsson W880i which is £249.99 on PAYG

I asked about lowering the contract but they told me they can knock £100 off for the year.

So the Q is, I'm happy with my current phone/phones have an XDA and an ok nokia, so what would I be best doing?

Look for a contract somewhere else? Any recommendations?

Get the upgrade phone and flog it on the bay....

Take the £100 offer....

Or is there anyway of getting more out of them?

Any help appreciated!!

For what it's worth I was in your situation about a year ago. Without even pushing I got them to knock £5 off per month plus I also got that £100 airtime subsidy so I'd give them a push in that direction.

50 mins and 500 texts for £5.60 (effective*) per month? Bargain IMO.

*£228 per year (£19 p/m) less £60 (£5 p/m) less 100

You are on the cheapest £20 per month contract and they are offering you "Nearly Any" phone for free.
I'm assuming this is to get you under another 18 month contract.
Because if they are offering you "Nearly Any" phone for free to stay on a discounted £20 per month for 12 months I'd snatch their hands off.

Although going with the network is nearly always the best/least hassle thing to do when I come to renew my contract I always get tempted by the bloody free gift offers what third party companies offer, like the xbox 360 I got with my last contract!!!

Im still not entirely sure what to do. Ive been looking around and there are some really good cash back schemes. Anyone done much with them before?

There seems to be offers just on sim cards too...(cashback offers), also noticed that quidco are doing a £60 cashback if you buy and o2 mobile with a contract....So many offers...

Really is hard to make a decision, especially when I go away next week for three months, i dont want to have to mess around trying to change numbers and contracts etc.... If i stay with o2 for now they will charge me on a monthly basis and then I can sort out stuff when I get back I guess?

I'd say chance your arm with em, sounds like your giving them some money so try and get them to price match. Mention orange and there £100 credit etc ;)

nothing to lose and everything to gain :)
