So im currently around 2 months into a 24 month contract with 3, paying about £30 per month. I have a galaxy s. Ive been with three for about 6 years, i started a contract with them June 09 then upgraded dec 10.

I used to get ok signal at work, not 3g but it was fine for calls and texts etc. About 3 weeks ago i lost signal from basically everywhere at work. Theres one small place i can sometimes get one bar of signal, otherwise its on "Emergency Calls Only".

From what i gather. Three used to use oranges non 3g network to roam onto, if you had poor signal. It seems that agreement ended in january. Someone from work who is also with 3 emailed them. They say the lack of signal is because we used to roam onto orange (Who are now in agreement with Tmobile).

Is there anything i can do about this? Am i tied into a contract for a further 22 months with next to no signal for majority of 5 days a week?

try contacting them, say that you got no mail explaining the changes to the service they were offering and that you are basically with a phone you can't use, if they tell you to get lost explain that you wish to speak to there supervisor and then go thru same thing with him/her an if he says nothing you can do say then it'll have to be the solicitors for your next point of call to see what bearings they have in a contract that they offered when you recieved no info explaining the change in services and it may pay for you to even mention the tabloids etc etc....

i'm no law expert but that has actually worked for me in the past

The usual thing atm seem to be a text to announce any contract changes with the clause like if you have not raised issue within 10 days then we accept that as your agreement or something similar :(

Give em a call you cant end up any worse off, but unless your contract cearly states roaming is on the orange network they might fight back.

3, t-mobile and orange are having one big giant love-in when it comes to networks currently and will be sharing 3g stuff soon although i realise this isn't very good for you right now. This network change is usually OK to be used as a getout clause as long as you are prepared to handover the phone.

Don't do this, the supervisors don't have any lawful power and neither do you when you signed away your rights on the contract, plus no ones going to hire a lawyer when it costs more than the contract. Be civil, explain that this has been done by them and as they used to provide coverage (the method isn't important remember) they have changed their service that you recieve without notice and you would like to leave. If they resist (it's 3 customer service so it's likely :P ) write a letter to their executive office.

From what ive been reading around, it seems 3 are actually happy with their own coverage now and wont be roaming with anyone else. My friend at work although on a 1 month rolling contract said he canceled his easily and asked about his wifes as well. They told him to get her to phone up but from reading a bit it looks like i can cancel it. Will phone them tomorrow to hear what they say, but ive had no such text from 3 about roaming. I also have no issue giving up the phone either, il just get another from another network, but a pain to loose the contract (paying £31 pm, 2000 mins, 5000 texts, 5000 3-3 mins, so many picture messages a month and unlimited internet)

you can get ultimate deals from a lot of the providers nowadays, especially due to that much competition.....

NO.1 solution to the price busting rules are....... SHOP AROUND untill you find a deal you are happy with, never accept a contract untill you have heard all the deals that are open to you... many can offer like deals from various companies, however, some also offer that little bit more to compete with the competitor offering the deal in the first place.

never give the seller the impression you can't be bothered to shop around

Ive just been looking around as it happens, checking on signal strength, price plans etc and some come close to 3 on the sites but no where near :p. I was upgrading so got a decent deal. I will wait to see what 3 say first though, looks like generally they give a lot better 3g coverage than other providers for where i am normally.

Ok so i spoke to three in the end after waiting on details of the Samsung Galaxy 2. They have told me the usual bla bla we are trying to improve the signal but they said i can cancel if i wish, with no extra charges.

So im likely to do that, time to see if i can find out who and when is getting the Galaxy 2
