Noob question :D

Thinking sim only contract vs contract for an i4S (tesco contract most likely as it's 12month). When contracts expire and you get offered an upgrade, obviously you have to pay something up-front for such an expensive phone, is this normally any cheaper though then a 'new customer' would pay?

Hope this makes sense! Thanks

It makes sense but I think Calgar has the wrong end of the stick. I'm guessing you're dancing around the age old question of "do new customers get better deals than older ones when it comes to renewals?".

Answer varies by network is the sad truth. Most networks match current "new customer" deals but it's not always black and white. If you throw in cashback sites like quidco it's nearly always worth shifting deals to get the new customer incentive though.

I can confirm that Tesco won't do you any favours after your contract has expired:

That thread makes me cringe eg:
I had to pay orange £200 early upgrade fee and £46 a month 1200 minutes unlimited texts and 750mb data month
This means he paid £200 early upgrade (this is with 33% off as well) + (24x46) = £1304 for 2 years. It's a nice handset don't get me wrong but this is just throwing money away. I wish my company had Apples appeal, they might pay me more then :/
