Hi all. I've been on PAYG all my life, never had a contract at all. Friends always used to be close so didn't need a phone really but now everyone's moving further away it might be an idea to switch to a contract.

I've had a quick look round but I'm a bit confused. On the actual phone companies website (Orange, o2, vodafone etc) the deals don't seem that great, not much under £20 a month. But I saw a couple of sites that looked like they did deals where you get 12 months free line rental on a 24 month contract or whatever so the monthly rate works out at nearer a tenner.

Now I currently spend an average of a tenner a month so wouldn't like to be much over that on a contract. Majority of that is texts, but I use a few minutes as well. The other thing is that I don't really want a new phone. I have a Samsung D900 and I'm more than happy with that. Is there anyway I can save money by not getting a new phone? I'm currently with Orange who I'm pretty happy with, although I could get the phone unlocked I suppose.

Any good deals that you think might be worth looking at or do you think I should stick with PAYG for the minute?

Thanks for any help.

I would stick with pay you as go to be honest, ive normally had contracts but find them a pain in the ass when it comes to leaving at the end of your contract term, at least with pay as you go you are more in control, most contracts are also 18 months or more, they are a rip off if you ask me, i wont be going back on another.

Could always go on t-mobile pay as you go? They're doing unlimited texts and unlimited internet when you top up £10 a month.
