PC is nearing completion at last! Just need some braided cables for superflower to be released and I need a controller!

Was hoping to grab a controller for around £15. Any suggestions?

I was going to go for a 360 controller but waiting on them to drop in price. Are there many other recommendations from you guys? I really like the 360's layout and shape.

360 controllers have been similar price for 8+ years I doubt they will drop any time soon.
I still think they are the best by far for PC gaming get a wireless dongle and a wireless xbox 360 controller and dont look back.
Xbox one work as wired controllers too I think.

I picked up a clone Afterglow XBox 360 controller nice and cheap from Argos. Same shape and layout as the official one (its a licenced product) and you can switch off the afterglow stuff.

360 controller with Wireless adaptor (they are unofficial adaptors available for less money) is currently the best set up IMO.

If/When a wireless receiver for the new XBONE controller is released I will upgrade to one/two of those.

Get the one i got honestly £42 from the retailer listed above with a cable and forget the wireless and you will never look back. You spend more on a night out probably. And you are getting the latest quality bit of kit. I forsee more of these threads soon because pc is becoming more and more like a console on steroids.

And the steam controller sort of looks a bit sucky... That pad cannot compare to a joystick for smoothness for the reasons i state in the thread i created about the Xbox controller.

100% this^^ Hopefully at some point this year we'll get a fully functional XBONE wireless controller for the PC.

Xbox 360 controller every day of the week.

You can get the wireless adaptor off the FleBay for £4 or so, you need to manually install the driver, but thats easy.

360 controller definitely. If you will be sitting at your desk and playing - just get it wired from amazon for £20. Wireless doesn't cost much extra either.

IMO it just makes sense, it works well and is well supported in games - I have never had an issue with it at all.

I surprised myself with the PS4 controller using the DS4 wrapper software. Pairs up with bluetooth seamlessly (the only time i've ever been able to say bluetooth and seamless in the same sentence). I'm more an Xbox / PC gamer and not really been a fan of the PS since the PS2 GTA3 days but the new controller is brill for PC gaming. You can even use the touch pad as a mouse for your desktop to load your games etc.. It’s surprisingly good and even uses the controller’s accelerometer for anti judder when using the touchpad. You can mess about with the lightbar so it can show you battery levels (eg green to red) Really impressive and Sony are missing a trick here.

Nice dude and lol at the bluetooth bit :p I am using a PS3 controller with the DS3 wrapper ;) But for some reason it doesn't work with motherboard's bluetooth so I just use it with a cable instead ;) Cba spending £5 on a bluetooth dongle :p

OP you can buy a wired 360 controller for £20 if you do a Google search ;)

I'll tell you this; I don't frivolously throw around money and was in the same boat as you a while ago, so the Logitech Rumble Pad 2 controller was my controller of choice. Inevitably I grew tired of finding/configuring profiles for every single game and moved to the wireless 360 pad.

Trust me, it's absolutely outstanding. Every single game supports it out of the box and for some reason the control layout feels so intuitive for every game. I dismissed it initialy as the price was quite high but it's worth every single penny and now I just feel silly for not buying it sooner.

I hate seeing a thread where the OP asks a question and no one provides an answer but decides to give recommendations against the clear request.

So in that respect I'd recommend the Logitech Rumblepad 2 since you can pair that with profiler software to imitate a 360 controller, it's wireless, comes with a receiver, fits comfortably in the hand, cheap on fleabay, takes AA batteries and lasts for ages.
