Hi

I am not a gamer but I have a 17 year old son who is obsessed. He is a PC gamer and has hinted for Christmas that a controller for a new game would be a possible present idea along with a new mouse pad to replace the SteelSeries material one he has that is now about 5 years old. I need tips please. I know he prefers the cloth mouse pads and presumably Steel series is still a good make to go for. With regard to the controllers, I have no idea. I have browsed websites via Google and seen the Xbox One Wireless, Xbox Elite Wireless and Sony Dualshock 4 mentioned but I don't really know the pros and cons of each. Any tips (and please keep it idiot proof for me) would be helpful i.e which is going to be easier to set up etc.

For the controller just get a standard Xbox one wireless controller. Will work with the pc either through a wire or there is a wireless adapter sold separately.

Plug and play with the majority of games and no faffing around with drivers and all that.
