Fired up my ps3 after many a month collecting dust.

Why is the controller so sluggish? Its a real pain in the bum to aim compared to the mouse.

Any tricks or tips?

I did get one kill on bf 1943 lol.

I must say bf 1943 isn't a patch on BF2 and 2142 on PC. Loads of jaggies, lag, poor lighting and really poor textures. I guess thats just the console though, mind you it was around 30% the cost of PC so can I really complain?

I find controlling First person shooters very difficult on the PS3 pad in comparison to the X360 pad, mainly due to dead zones on both sixaxis and DS3 controllers that I own.

I think maybe try practicing on a difficult single player game such as COD4 on veteran would be the best thing to do to get your sticks-skills up to scratch. After a while it should just "click". Rainbox Six Vegas was the game that got me playing fluidly with a controller in this generation.

I did get into uncharted a year or two ago, got quite far but then stopped, need to complete that one so I can buy uncharted 2.

I'll fire up uncharted at the weekend and see if I can get better.

I did own an xbox in 2006 I think and did get reasonable on Gears of war. hhmmm Maybe the xbox might be better.

Can u get a xbox replica controller for ps3? or there decent third party controllers?

PS controller has never sat right in my hands, some pads do, some pads don't. It would help though if Sony thought about changing the design of the PS pad some time this century.

Alternatively if your looking for a different pad, grab yourself a FragFX as the V2 is supposed to be pretty good.

When I got my PS3 it took me a while to get used to.
Especially on FPS games but even now I am used to it I prefer to play FPS games on the PC as a keyboard and mouse are far superior.
(Altho I've been using keyboard and mouse on FPS games since 1993)

Was difficult for me switching, but only due to the analogue - it's a lot more slack on the PS3 which messed up my controlling. Sony could do with changing the controller, although not necessarily to be a lot more like the 360 as that has it's own flaws.

turn the sensitivity up ingame if its too sluggish ? or move your thumbs quicker

ive never really had a problem but then i grew up using consoles rather than pc for FPS

I've missed out on so many quality console games that require precise manual aiming thanks to joypads. Uncharted 2 is the latest.

Oh for a mouse and keyboard layout :(

I've never had any problem with controllers, I don't understand people struggling to get to grips with controllers(pun intended)

I swap seamlessly between 360 and PS3 without any need to "train" myself or get used to anything

My hands arent too small for the 360 pad, or too big for the PS3 pad, Maybe i'm just in that magical mid section.

The only short coming i feel either of the pads has, is the 360 Dpad, using that thing rubs my thumb to the bone

It's not broke.

But I personally feel it's just not as comfortable and ergernomic as the Xbox controller is. Technically, if we look back at the history of the Playstation pad, it was designed at a time when games in the 2D plain were still the norm, as it didn't even originally have analog sticks until proper 3D games came along.

Thus I guess it has a feeling following it that it's a controller that's been around a long time. Considering the Playstation was released in Japana in 1994, and was obviously in development long before then, the current Playstation pad is essentially about 15 years old! Having just been revised here and there, rather than deviating to a new design.

Personally, I think with their next console they should redesign it.

What has the controller got to do with the graphics?
