Controlling an HTPC (avoid Rii Mini Bluetooth Keyboard!)

I've got two HTPCs using harmony remotes.

One is setup for the Antec Veris Imon software and receiver, this works a treat.

The other uses a simple cyberlink (£5.99) receiver with the keys mapped across to the harmony. This also works well but has no mouse function like the Veris one.

The little diNovo gets rather "flaky" after a years use, or at least it has in my experience. It simply refuses to work at times or goes completely mad. Sometimes it works fine, but only for while. Annoying really as it was a nice bit of kit. :(

it's logitech - send them an email, you'll probably find they'll be very helpful.

"Keysonic ACK-540RF Wireless Mini Keyboard with Built in Touchpad"

arrived today, very nice and works well. about the same size as a bit of a4 paper, and maybe half and inch thick, it pretty good and does the job well

Aye, mine too. Range is great. Touchpad works without lag. Keys will wake the HTPC from S3 sleep. Perfect.

Build quality is a bit flimsy, but it was cheap - so I don't mind too much (rattles a bit when pressing the up/down arrow keys).

Just had my new RC6 remote and reciver arrive so will let you know how I get on with that later.
Very cool though as the reciver is very small and can be converted to an internal reciver with the supplied kit :p

What model is it? I want a small receiver as I intend to attach it to the clear plastic strip on the bottom of the Samsung panel (the PC is mounted to the back on the vesa mount)

I have the Logitech Harmony One for use in my lounge. it is perfect. works very fast. I use it with my laptop via the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-028-CP IR receiver from this package, needs to be IR6 I thinks it is called to work with Harmony.

seriously if you are looking for a remote. get the Harmony One (sure some of the other logitech's work just fine too) really is useful.

I can sit on my sofa and control everything from just one remote. dead easy for other people to pick up and use as well.

I am in the process of building a dedicated HTPC for use with XBMC, at present I use a laptop and ex HD all connected to plasma through HDMI.

The remote controls it all, right down to waking/sleep the laptop.

But the keysonic looks perfect (the RF ver) for my needs for when I need a keyboard + mouse.

I also believe Easyrider (member here) has the keysonic on his big 'home cinema build'

There is no way I can justify the cost of a Harmony One, as lovely as it looks - I can't see how it can be worth that much.

I might just get the MCE remote you've linked there for now.
