Yes, as said above Unified remote, especially like the mouse pad, the perfect companion for lazing on the sofa.

I get an error with unified remote. "unable to deserialize received packet"
I have the same IP and port on both server and client. Any help please?

Try adding the program to your firewall and antivirus exceptions. Maybe forwarding the port also?

OP might want to try LogMeIn Ignition.

the IR diode in phones (that had them) was weak, intended to link close by devices - not control a TV. I had IR software on my n95 and it wasn't very good.

Back on topic, there is a free RDP client for Android call 2X

After playing around with them, Unified Remote is probably the best all purpose one. However, I like Gmote as you can stream from your computer to your phone. Useful for me (listening to music on the john, and such like

).

I thought you have to have the same port on the client and server as well? because it is a listening port? I have tried changing to two different ports but it is not working. also added them to firewall and virusguard exclusion list as well to no avail.
