Convert NAS to USB

Hi guys

I recently bought this

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-463-WD

I have 2.5 terabytes of data that needs backing up.

I have been trying to do it via backblaze but it is taking bluddy ages. I mean over a month now and still only 25 percent done.

I bought the WD unit thinking I could transfer the data to it using USB3 then set it up as a NAS so I could access the films etc on my TV and other devices.

However, once plugged into the PC via USB3 the PC didn't recognize the drive.

I then configured the NAS drive through my router as instructed thinking I could back it up that way.

This worked except the transfer rate was no better than the back blaze solution.

I now have a £170.00 piece of kit that basically doesn't do what I wanted it to do.

That being, give me a secure back up of my 2.5 TB of data.

My question is:

How do I make my PC recognize this as a USB drive so I can back stuff up to it?

Thanks

Martyn

Connect to it through the network and not over the Internet.

Make sure all your devices are gigabit and cabled through gigabit gear.

You should be fine connecting over gig or even 100meg lan, will take a while over 100meg see below:
Results:

Speed: 100 mbps
Size: 2.5 TB
64 Hours, 04 Minutes and 46 Seconds

or 1 gig lan:
Results:

Speed: 1000 mbps
Size: 2.5 TB
6 Hours, 24 Minutes and 28 Seconds

USB3:
Results:

Speed: 3.2 gbps
Size: 2.5 TB
1 Hours, 57 Minutes and 20 Seconds

Somethings wrong with either the network devices or NAS for that kind of speed. Also that USB port is to connect devices to the NAS and not for connecting the NAS to a PC.
