Is there any solution in place that could allow the addition of NFC to non-NFC iOS devices?

Something like:

iPhone
lightning cable to
NFC receiving pad

NFC emitter

Probably not as I imagine you'd need quite specific drivers for them, older iPhones don't even support OTG USB do they?

Beyond ApplePay and I guess NFC is how the W3 chip pairs the headphones etc, NFC isn't really supported in iOS (unless I am missing something) so I don't understand what adding it would add to a device which doesn't have it

We would be looking to add the ability to charge older iOS devices without (later) access to the lightning/30-pin connector further down the line. This would assume we have initial access at some stage to add the NFC charge pad to the device.

Are you are thinking about Qi wireless charging not NFC?

It’s perfectly possible to add Qi wireless charging via the lightning connector. Not sure I’d bother though...
