Converting a Floyd Rose guitar?

You need to turn the guitar the other way round and see if you can get a block between the body and the trem bridge.

HOWEVER, looking at that arrangement you can do an old Stratocaster trick if you still want a stationary bridge.
Loosen your strings and tighten the two screws on A all the way into the body and you should find that it won't go anywhere.
Tune your strings up and voila.

i have no idea how tightening the spring screws into the body would fix the trem...

thats how i'd be doing it.

It isn't fixing the trem, its turning it into a non trem guitar.
You tighten the screws into the body and the bridge should then come all the way down to the body making it fixed.
It works with Strats but I don't know what his floating bridge looks like and if it will go onto the body.

Edit -
Looking at your link the Floyd Rose will not jam against the body so forget it.

it would completely pull the bridge down into the body and the strings would be pulled against the neck tight, rendering the guitar useless.

when i said "fix" i meant fix it in position. stupid english language!

Well chaps, I followed the link that Sidewinder posted, and it's worked a charm - my Maverick X1 is now back in a playable state! Thank you very much to all of you for your help and input :)

Thread revival.

My 70 year old Dad bought a Jackson earlier this year and he's just rang me up saying he's got a problem when he came to change the strings.
He took them all off and replaced them with a thinner gauge
I have to blame myself for not warning him.
He wishes he'd had a Fender Strat like the one he had in the late 50's.

ouch! thats painful :(

i had enough trouble changing guage when removing 1 string at a time!!!

the trem on my ibanez is currently blocked, i rarely use it at the moment and its good whilst my other guitar is out of use.
