I agree, dogs are much better, they actually love you. Cats only come back because you feed them. My dad would never get a cat because they kill birds and are garden is choka-block with bird feeders

I hate the dirty feel when going into a house that has a dog, but the cost of a dog is actually very similar to a cat (for feeding) only a few pounds more a month.

Cats are clever though. Mine thinks the hoover is The Boogie Monster.
