cookies on localhost/MAMP

hi guys,

trying to set some cookies in a webpage im writing and am not having any joy. I think my problem is because I am using MAMP testing server on mac and viewing the site through localhost. Can anyone confirm if localhost allows cookies or how can i check this?

I use MAMP and cookies work fine. Sorry I can't be anymore help.
