Hello all.

I rarely bother to do anything to make a snack, so I decided that I'd show you all the height of my culinery skills:

A fried onion and barbeque sauce sandwich.

BTW - It was in fact really nice, and I would make one again.

First, chop up an onion (how you do this is up to you, I have a very good way - the only good thing out of my last relationship - but I prefer small to medium sized bits)

Then get a pan of oil heated on a high temperature.

Once the oil is heated, add the onion to the pan.

Making sure that the onion doesn't stick or burn get 4 slices of bread, and butter them (not buttered in pic).

When cooking the onion make sure it's browned but not badly burnt - something like this will do:

and then turn off the heat, and put some on top of two of the slices of bread.

Garnish with sauce if desired, I used barbeque sauce.

OM NOM NOM.

By the way I mainly did this at this time in the morning as I had just found a lot of mouldy stuff in my kitchen and wanted rid of the smell. That and hunger.

An onion sandwich? What do you brush your teeth with, garlic paste?

Na. No-one to impress tonight or anything so what's the harm eh :)

Ghetto.

Matches the oven.

Yeah, the joys of student houses, apparantly my dad had the same type of oven when he just got married circa 30 years ago.

Needs meat

Yeah, some beef or bacon would have been nice but I literally have no food at all left in the house until tomorrow so onion it was.

I like. However, my choice of quick snack tonight is a melted cheese & onion butty.

  • Just chop the onions into a microwavable bowl and slice your cheese over the top. Whack into the microwave until the cheese has melted and is bubbling.
  • While the cheese is microwaving, butter your bread and spread some tomato sauce around.
  • Take the bowl of cheese & onion from the microwave and give a quick stir before smearing over the bread.
  • Place top slices on and cut.

Eat!

you made a thread on how to cook onions and then how to apply the onions to buttered bread....are you serious? you sir fail.

ps - onions and mushrooms are nicer fryed without oil :P
