Cooking bacon...in a microwave?

i do it sometimes when super hungover and can only bare 2 mins with a microwave

but it definitely loses taste

I like how he proclaims "it tastes better" completely forgetting that taste is subjective. It's one thing that annoys me about food programmes, the chefs talk as if what they like is the standard and anyone that disagrees is somehow wrong.

Take steak for example, I love a good old fashioned well done t-bone but no doubt the Pierre-White's of this world would be quick to tell me how "wrong" I am for not preferring it tartare (raw).

bacon deserves to be fried until slightly crunchy. the laid on a bed of thick, soft, buttered bread, covered in brown sauce, then covered in a thick, bready blanket. then eaten.

It works. Better to cook it on a George Foreman IMO though..with some pork and apple sausage and mushrooms...lots of mushrooms...mmm

I would rather do it in my sandwich toaster than in a microwave.

Seriously, a panini press is good. My options in preference are:

1) Grill
2) Fry
3) Panini press
4) Microwave
5) Sit on it

Used to cook bacon in the microwave loads, both at uni and at work (where there's no other option). Tastes great imo and is done in like 3/4 minutes. Plus the faces of other people in the office when you come back from the kitchen with a bacon and cream cheese bagel is great :p.

cleaning? burning?
bacon always tastes better from a pan that has already cooked bacon multiple times!

this man speaks the truth. my dad used to have a "bacon pan" which quite litterally only got used for breakfasts.... that was in the good old days though when bacon was a standard breakfast item. Now i dont much have breakfast and even when i do, its not generally bacon =(

if your bacon pan doesn't have a golden layer of burnt on fat then you are doing it wrong

Indeed. Cleaning a frying pan is....WRONG!

Keep it covered by all means (flies etc) but shouldn't clean it more then once/twice a year.

(obv don't try this if you have the immune system of a newborn [most of you will])

a few freinds are microwave mad.

making eggs etc in microwave.

I see a post here saying the same taste. I just cannot commute.

your cooking them wrong or something.

I aggree beans etc are much of a muchness. However, Bacon? Eggs? pffffffffff

It's like people who use a different frying pan to cook an egg when they're frying steak. The steak juices just make the egg taste so much better.

I also will happily leave the oil in a pan after frying bacon to congeal into that thick creamy coloured gunk and then melt it down the next day for more bacon.

There's a stent somewhere with my name on it :p
