Cooking for one

Don’t discount supermarket prepared foods. They’re too expensive when cooking for a family but on your own they’re not bad value and so easy.

I’m not talking about the crap 4 minute ding ready meals that taste like reconstituted cardboard, but proper food that’s been prepared to the stage of oven cooking. For example, Morrison’s do a good range of dishes at 2 for £6. There’s normally a couple of portions in each. Just add some rice or salad and you’ve got a nice easy meal. If you’re feeling flush, some of the M&S Gastropub stuff is fantastic.

I tried two of the Sainaburys taste the difference range recently and was pleasantly surprised. Not too dissimilar from M&S. Handy to.have as a back up option. Only real issue is that you need to defrost before cooking so a little bit of forethought is required.

Frankly you don't, you just have to cook it longer than the stated time.

See I did consider this but it was pulled beef brisket which can be chewy (was nice though) and I didn't want to risk it.

I figured if they'd say it's alright to cook from frozen if the quality wasn't reduced
